2408 problems with noise and bit rate.

I recently purchased a 2408 MK II.

When I transfer ADAT tracks via the 2408 lightpipe to the computer I get a hiss that sounds like I'm listening to a cassette. I get it on all the tracks that have audio on them.

Just for drill, I transferred the same tracks with my former ADAT card, a Terratec EWS 88. No noise.

The second issue is with the bit rate. I have my software (Adobe Audtions set to record 48K 32 bit floating files and when I record, the files are at 48K but only 16 bit. According to what information I can find, the MKII is supposed to have 24 bit resolution..

Anybody have any ideas what may be wrong? I'm using Windows XP and Audition 1.5.

Is the resolution set by the recording software or does the MK II output 24 bit files?
