Wow! That answers my confusion as I was setting up my new Mac Studio and wondered why I had to go back to VST2 for that product. I thought it might have just been a bad copy/paste message that wasn't accurate.

Didn't Steinberg drop VST2 support with their latest updates? I haven't checked yet, but did update everything last week as part of my new Mac Studio build. Won't this mean that Note Performer loses compatibility with Doritos?

VST2 has been depreciated for years now. Komplete 14/Kontakt 7 no longer supported it and K15/K8 has not brought it back..

As for NotePerformer Five, 5.0 supported VST3 and 5.1 took it away. It appears that David (Wallander) came up against a Goliath named Yamaha (Steinberg is a wholly owned subsidiary).

If one had purchased 3rd party engines hosted by NP4, it can be downloaded to replace 5.x but support for these is gone.

Mike,

If I'm not mistaken it doesn't effect NPs own sound engine but the ability to load and use 3rd party libraries, correct? It's terrible that Yamaha wouldn't/couldn't work something out. I've been using NP with Sibelius for a bunch of years and I have to say that out of the box-no frills it works and sounds MUCH better than Sib Sounds ever did. The problem is it is limited, which is where 3rd party would have come in. Speaking of which I gave up on using 3rd party within Sib. No matter how many times I tried to follow someone's video it never worked (or for very long). Well, this seems to be the age of "MINE!" and squashing many interesting ideas for Goliath's increased profit. (Steps off soap box).

Joel
That's correct.

Taking Arne at his word, NP4 was not a profitable venture which is why tech support is gone for those who revert back to 4.5.1. NP5.0 was an attempt to expand and that is now shut down so he is re-focusing to bring us better and more versatile sounds.

I've installed 5.0.1 but haven't used it in anything as of yet. I have Finale 27 and Dorico 6.
