OK so I have been using motu interfaces for a while. Normally I buy new items but I thought it was time for an experiment. This year (7 years after the fact) I decided on getting a second motu AVB device I found second hand for an amazing deal. I have been trying to create a redundant set-up. I have 3 Macs and use my m1 mini for a NAS, the M2pro mini and the M3 max MBP as the main 2 devices. The goal is to get the AVB grid to accept all audio from both AVB devices (an 8A set as master clock with an optically connected ULMK5 and a 624) to both computers. The 8A and the 624 are direct connected to each other with cat6 (no AVB switch) to create the AVB link. Normally I just create aggregate devices but they are always unstable with occasional noise pops but AVB is way more reliable for clean sounds. Each computer is direct connected to each AVB device with thunderbolt.
SO far the directions are pretty clear on the MOTU how to's. The problem is I want both computer to see the AVB network as one one device as I need the DAWS one both computers to receive the audio from the inputs on both AVB units. I am routing it wrong. If successful I will invest in a couple of the more capable AVB devices like a 16a, 8PREes and a switch. Although it would be nice if MOTU updated to the AVB line to thunderbolt 3, 4 or 5 instead of just USBc like on the UL MK5.
