Motu 4Pre and cracking noise
Hi all,
Over the years my 4Pre has shown cracking noise when playing back on occasions. I found that reducing the buffer usually helps.
It's been a while not where the noise is getting very annoying and it's very on and off. Sometimes there is no noise, sometimes it's unbearable. A reboot might or might not clear it. Some time ago I realised I had the buffer set to 1024, I reduced it to 256 and the noise went away. Now it's back.
I'm so close to replace this interface with something else. I have tried following the advice regarding USB issues (power saving etc). This issue has required quite some time to diagnose and every now and then I am back to square one for no reason.
I am using Resolve - Yes, Resolve could use ASIO but I then lose control of adjusting the levels from Windows.
Does anybody have any pointers for me before I replace the interface with something else please?
I am on Windows 22H2. Latest drivers of course.

I have issue with AMD system.
It gone when Agesa BIOS Update if lucky.

Re: Motu 4Pre and cracking noise
If Motu don’t work well with AMD, then 24% of PC users won’t be able to use them (AMD market share).
MOTU btw denies that there are issues with AMD systems.
I guess I’ll get rid of it and get something else. I’ve got enough of investing time on something which should just work.

Without knowing the source of the noise and having access to your system, I have no idea.Does anybody have any pointers for me before I replace the interface with something else please?

Re: Motu 4Pre and cracking noise
Noise is not external. It's a driver/USB issue.
It's "crackling" noise coming from the interface itself. It does not happen in ASIO. It gets worse if I increase the buffer.
