Motu M2 Firmware 2.02

Yesterday (18.01.2022) a new firmware (2.02) for the MOTU M2 interface was released. Sadly I couldn't find a changelog.
Has anyone information about what's changed or does MOTU never provide these informations for firmware updates?

I think the update fixes the firmware installer and doesn't update the actual firmware. If I run it, it tells me I'm already up to date at firmware version 1.02 which hasn't changed in a while. There appeared to be a bug in the last firmware updater version posted that stopped the updater from recognizing an M series in update mode - they may have fixed that. The last version of the drivers did add some functionality - sync windows audio to M setting, but I run everything at 48k (system and ASIO) so don't know how that effects those who don't.

My firmware was updated from 2.01 to 2.02. So I don't think it's just the updater itself that was updated.
The update to 2.01 I installed only a few weeks ago.

OK - sorry, I'm talking about the M4. They must have parted ways. They both use the same firmware and driver installers, but apparently not the same versions installed. Either that or there's a different release of the hardware?

This is interesting. I have an M4, didnt realize there were updates. I updated the drivers/etc, but it will not update the M4 to firmware 2.*. The app says its already up to date at 1.02. There is another M4 user reporting a problem in another thread that just got a new one, and he has 2.*. Interesting.

That’s why I was thinking maybe a new hardware revision.

Why would they do that unless all the M series are based upon the same hardware (as you aluded too) - so like the new M2 and newer M4s are the same. Fine, but at the same time, makes all the older M4 peeps be like 'what am I missing'

A new hardware revision would make sense. I bought my M2 last September. Before it was out of stock for several months.
So maybe they had to change some parts because of the global chip shortage (COVID-19 pandemic).

In the meantime firmware 2.04 was released (March 29, 2023).
As always without changelog.

The firmware update is listed for the M2/4/6.

It ran fine on my M2. My M4 is loaned out and I won’t see it for a few weeks.
