896HD, Leopard & Logic 8 Pro=?

Post by synthfreek »

I can't get audio/MIDI setup to recognize my 896HD. Has anyone gotten this setup to work yet? Why aren't updates available from MOTU? The MOTU site states--->"Are your MOTU software and hardware products going to be compatible? Absolutely. MOTU has been working closely with Apple to ensure a smooth transition for your MOTU products when you make the move to Leopard."<---So far this has NOT been a smooth transition. Should my interface just work without an update and something else is the matter or is an actual update needed and it just isn't available yet? If that's the case any word on a date?

It's not called the "bleeding edge" for anything. I'm sure they're working on it and it should be soon, but seriously, you are aware that it's foolhardy to jump right in on the first day, yes? I believe they said they'd have updates available, but it doesn't say they're available now. Perhaps something will pop up early next week?

And I bet you a dollar MOTU will be there a lot quicker than digidesign or M-audio.

IMHO MOTU has always been the fastest company out there in terms of getting drivers out for new operating systems.

Well this is my scenario. I've been sitting on my copy of Logic Pro 8 since it came out because I've still been using 10.3 and I needed a minimum of 10.4 to run LP8. I figured I'd just wait 'til Leopard came out since buying 10.4 would not enable me to get a free update to 10.5. Can you imagine how impatient I've been just having that software sitting there and not being able to use it :-) Thanks for the info.

I got a tip that with my same setup the 1.4.2 driver works but I simply cannot find it. I've scoured the MOTU site and googled for a while but I can't find anywhere to download it. This guy says that version was on his install disc but my version must be an older disc. Anyone know where to track this driver down?

Synthfreak,

I know this doesn't help, but I have a question for you: have you been able to run Logic 8 successfully with Built In Audio? I am wondering if you are having any issues running L8 on 10.5.

Actually, kind to think of it, I think that L8 on 10.4 when I first installed it defaulted to built-in audio and started working right away. If you're not getting this result with 10.5 you might have bigger problems... :?:

MOTU 896HD - Event 20/20p's - Mackie Control - Axoim 25 - Alesis QS7 - Ineko! - Liquid Mix - Art Tube MP
DP 5.13 - Logic 8 - Live 6 - Komplete 4 - GPO - Ethno - A large collection of weird sounds

I am messing around with headphones and the digital out is available. I DID have mucho problems with the now infamous blue-screen hangups everyone was having during Leopard's install.
I am also not having any luck authorizing Symphonic Instrument even after installing that update that states should make it work.

I'm having the same problem. Can't get my G5 (with Leopard and Logic8) to recognize my 896HD. I've scoured the MOTU site, but all they seem to have is a generic driver for Tiger. Has anyone figured this out?

There is nothing to figure out.

Go to the Leopard compatibility page on the MOTU site -- they have not released drivers for Leopard yet --

but when they do they will be out on that page. I linked to it above. But again in BOLD!
