Bounce - missing first transient

Post by bendrissa »

I've just bounced a mix - just a stereo file I was 'mastering' - and the result is missing the first transient, as if there is a fast fade at the start.

I tried nudging the file along, but the fade is still there. Reminds me of the Cubase/Rewire bug. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Ben

Weird. All you hear when hitting play should be there in bounced file.

But freezing Reason/Rewire tracks in DP needs a little time to "settle".
I have never figured exactly why but this is reality.
Must select one, or two, measure(s) before 1st note to get it right.

Nowadays, I've get used to check the begining of any freezed Reason/Rewire track.

Yes, I use Cubase and Reason Rewired at work and we find the first part of measure one is missing. But this DP session is simply a stereo file imported into a track, an EQ and Limiter plug-inserted, then bounced as a AIFF file.

drag the file to bar 2 and start the bounce say a 100 ticks or so before bar 2 and it should work. I always bounce in this way and it never fails

Hi Ben;

FWIW, this has happened to me when using the MW limiter.
It knocks off the transient on a first kick drum, etc.

I haven't found a fix (nor have I tried very hard).

hey

i'm having the same issue here. I'm using the chunks dealio, with a bunch of songs/sequences in one file. Im bouncing a mix for each song and the result I get is the right side of the stereo mix working fine, but the left side cuts in a split second later.

I've never had this problem with other dp projects until now. I have a good amount of time in the sequence before the track starts (with a click countdown). It worked on one song after I restarted DP, but it's doing it again for another song, even after restarting both DP and my computer.

yup, i just tried bouncing with and without the MW limiter, and that seems to be my problem with the left side of the stereo mix cutting in later at the beginning of the song.

that sucks!

You could automate the MW limiter to start a 100 millisecs or so after the 1st transient. No big deal

automate the mw limiter to start earlier? Hmmm, i'll try that.

I was just going through one of the posts a couple of pages back, and it seems like the general consensus is to record the completed tracks to another track first, and then bounce this final track.

I just tried that and it works just fine. Plus, it allows you to listen to what's being bounced, I guess.
