I have for many years used a cookie manager for reasons. And among the entities that I've prevented from keeping a cookie is Google.

I've noticed today that Google has started putting up a warning page that says my computer is doing suspicious activity and is making me prove that I'm a human by clicking on the parts of a picture that include motorcycle, etc.

I don't know if the cookie manager has anything to do with it, but if that keeps up, I'll start using a different default search engine..

Got those all the time, particularly when I’m using a VPN. Some sites will ask, others simply will NOT work w/Nord at all. Won’t the a credit card either. Frustrating. I use DDG as my search since they don’t track. I’d say it’s about 80% of Google. If I’m doing research for teaching I’ll switch to Google as it still finds things DDG doesn’t (or maybe it’s AInventing them!). More and more the whole experience is more unpleasant. But if it’s free you’re the product, right?

Either robots are smart enough to get past this, or they’re not. If not, why would it matter if they access the service on the site?

Thanks for that. I opened the activity monitor, but don't really know what I'm looking for.

I suppose it is possible I have some malware on my machine. What a people using these days to sniff that out?

I run the free version of Malware Bytes only very occasionally. I DO NOT use automatic scanning or real-time monitoring. After I run it once I delete it.
