Three New 100% Repeatable Crash Bugs

Post by Winslow Schiller »

As Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say: if it's not one thing, it's another. Today, I'm getting 100% repeatable crashes as follows:

Create a mono audio track and record a few bars.

1. In Waveform editor, draw a volume curve to the end of the soundbite: 100% crash.
2. In Waveform editor, chose the Scrub tool and drag onto the soundbite. Release it, and crash. Every.Damn.Time.

I have another existing project with a handful of soundbites. Select any one of them and use "apply plug in" and select Reverse. 100% crash when hitting "Apply." Will also crash under conditions #1 and #2, above.

What have I done in my life to deserve this? 25 years on DP. What in the heck causes these kinds of things? These procedures are about as basic as you can get. Yes, I'm on Mojave and yes I'm on an older machine, but DP rarely crashed on me until recently. Not much has changed on my end. :banghead:

Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't take much.

Sorry you are having issues. I can't replicate on my rig.

Thanks for running a few rats through the maze, guys. There's some perfect storm somewhere in my system that's not letting me make music. And that's a bummer.

Draw volume crash for me too ...
Any Scrub in Waveform Editor and Apply Reverse this does not.
But I have always Crash a double click on meter change point (little rectangle on Conductor track in Sequence Editor)

Maybe time to each start a Techlink on the issue at MOTU.com.

Perhaps you can record a short screen shot video demonstrating.

Nice thought, but if there is an issue, maybe they fix it for DP12!

PS: Mike asks the first question that should always be asked: when was the last time you rebooted?

Reboot was last night after backup (Time Machine I do manually) as usual on Sunday evening

Thanks! :D

I can't tell you how many times a re-boot has solved problems, for me and for others. I reboot daily; I like to start fresh with my Mac. Seems to avoid a lot of issues. I also follow a power on sequence that avoids things like drives not being seen on boot up.

Thanks for confirming Winslow.

I retested the issues you are having and can again confirm not present for me.

Also tried the double click on Meter Change Point mentioned by L2A... no problem here.
