Crash on launch every time - RESOLVED

Starting about a week ago, DP (11.3.4) crashes every time I launch it. It seems to get pretty much all the way through the plug—in scan and then it just quits with no warning. However when I get the crash report and click the “Reopen” button, it launches and runs just fine. I’ve tried launching after rebooting the computer—same result, quitting DP and relaunching—same result. It only launches after I click the “Reopen” button in the crash report window. It happens every single time. I’m assuming it is related to some updates in either OS or plugins, but I can’t tell which one. I don’t know enough about reading the crash report to make heads or tails of it. Is there a resource that shows how to interpret those reports? Thanks.

The crashed plug is usually mentioned in the first crashed thread or so. You can also try feeding as much of the report into ChatGPT as it will take, and see if you can get a decent interpretation. Good luck.

That is a typical authentication error — DP (or any other app) will skip it and keep going when you hit Reopen. If you can get DP to fire up after a reboot without crashing, incompatible plugs should not try to scan again. Reopen bypasses part of that process.

The first thing I would do is to check what plug-ins are not being verified. Those, like NotePerformer as an example, should always skip.

Thanks for the tips, guys! ChatGPT suggested looking for a plugin named "Modulo" which I found in the plugins list and disabled. After that, DP launched just fine. I then, reexamined the plugin and enabled it and DP continues to launch with no problems. The weird thing is, I can't find a plugin named "Modulo" anywhere in the various audio plugin locations, even looking for invisible files. According to the plugins list in DP settings, it's a MAS plugin, but I sure don't see it anywhere.

The good news is I'm back to a crash-free DP, it's just a bit odd about that mysterious plugin.

Isn’t Modulo is part of DP, a built-in MAS plugin? If that’s what caused crashes, someone better tell MOTU tech.

No need. As I mentioned above, I disabled, reexamined, and then reenabled Modulo in the DP Plugins window and everything works fine now.
