Old file weirdness (DP10)
Long time user (went inactive) so haven't done anything in DP for years but trying to revitalize some old files.
I have been able to open the old file (appears as a folder icon in Sonoma) - but DP acts very weird.
The transport is greyed out (but works)
Almost NO windows or menu items work (all greyed out) - nothing under windows or window sets are available.
Some other files I have, have opened mixer and things so it's even more odd... maybe just this one file has issues - but no mixer????

Re: Old file weirdness (DP10)
A couple things to try:
Open the chunks window and see what's there. Play enable the chunk you want to make active.
Another thing to try is to open a new empty project, then choose LOAD... from the file menu and try to import stuff from your old files and see what comes in. You can start small, then try again, each time selecting more and more things to load/import from your old projects.
Is it possible that some process is hanging it up? Like sync? Or file conversion?

Re: Old file weirdness (DP10)
Just wanted to note that this afternoon I successfully opened files created in 2009 (DP MIDI and Audio) and 1990 (Performer MIDI) in DP11.33.
Extraordinary.
A few versions back, DP9 IIRC, I had to jump through hoops, including firing up my G5 Mac, to accomplish what I did today by simply double-clicking on the old files on my M1 Mac.

Re: Old file weirdness (DP10)
Thanks for the replies. I wasn't able to open any chunks window. But there was an old autosave from 2010 that was marginally better and I at least got to see tracks.
I'm sure it's partially because I'm so out of touch with the UI some things are mystifying to me. But I have a good number of old files I'd like to tinker with so will have to work on it.

Started using Performer when it was version 1.0 !

Re: Old file weirdness (DP10)
Might want to enable the DP Setting "Open in Consolidated Windows".

Re: Old file weirdness (DP10)
I just find really old project files open with little windows scattered about and overlapping.
But I DO love the Consolidated Window. Before I got my M1 Mac Studio, I'd put the Mixer in a separate window, but now that DP screen redraws are so quick, I typically leave Tracks Overview open in the top half of the Consolidated Window and switch between Sequence Editor and Mixer tabs down below.
