Digital Performer 11 beat clock bug?

Post by gjensse »

I have connected a vintage Korg KMS-30 MIDI/DIN synchronizer to my Mio XM MIDI interface. Digital Performer 11 is the master in this setup. I can see that the KMS is receiving MIDI tempo from DP. A Roland TR-08, connected to the MIDI Out of the KMS, is also playing in sync with DP, but DIN Sync, where I have connected an 808 as a slave, is not working.
If I disconnect DP and use the TR-08 as the master for the KMS, then DIN sync works, and the 808 is playing in sync with the TR-08. But why doesn´t it work from DP?

So this seems to be caused by a bug in DP 11. MIDI beat clock works fine in DP9, but not in DP11.

Please report to MOTU.com with a TechLink. Although they might read about the issue here, they might not. Thanks!

I have contacted MOTU. They are looking into it.

I’m running into the same issue. I’m trying to sync a Roland CR78 via beat clock, it works with other DAW’s on the same setup but not DP11. The CR78 will constantly start and stop. I’m seeing MIDI signal LEDs on my MTP but they are flashing in time with the CR78 starting and stopping. It’s almost like DP11 is sending out 1 pulse per bar instead of 24 pulses per quarter note.

I suppose after 3 years, it's time to ping MOTU's support, and see how their "looking into it" is going. :)
