Any Way to Stop my Mac from Asking to Migrate to Sequoia?—SOLVED!

Re: Any Way to Stop my Mac from Asking to Migrate to Sequoia?
Interesting. While system settings still shows that an update to Sequoia is available, I am still not otherwise getting any of the usual popup notifications and exhortations to "upgrade". Maybe some tweaks to the Notifications settings?

Any Way to Stop my Mac from Asking to Migrate to Sequoia?—SOLVED!
Finally solved this!
Check out this MacOS Rumors page.
It requires downloading a free app from the Apple App Store called iMazing Profile Editor.
Follow the instructions in the first post ***carefully*** (I glossed over it the first time I tried and missed an important step).
What it doesn't tell you (or more precisely, what it didn't tell ME, since I've never done this before) is how to install a profile, (.mobileconfig file) once you create it. For that, open System Prefs, then go to the Privacy & Security pane and scroll down to the bottom, where you can click on Profiles. Use the + to add the profile you created in iMazing Profile Editor and you're set.
Worked like a champ on my Apple Silicon Mac. There were a few comments in the MacOS Rumors thread from people who are on Intel machines that may be worth reading if you're on Intel.

Nice! Thanks, Rick! I'm sure glad you included the part about how to install profiles... didn't know that either. On a hunch I double-clicked the "mobielconfig" file. Nothing happened, but per your instructions when I went to Systems Prefs > Privacy & Security > Profiles it was already there, but with a notice saying I needed to review it. All worked out and now I don't see the little red notification on the System Settings icon in my dock!

It does appear though that if a user decided they wanted to install Sequoia prior to the 90 days expiring, they will need to remove that profile. I'm thinking of editing mine to be 30 days. I wonder if that time interval is measured from date of a release or date of profile installation. Hmmmmmm

Yeah… I think you can still request the update, if you want it. (I’d need to check on that.) I’m pretty sure the time you set is based on when you install the profile.James Steele wrote:It does appear though that if a user decided they wanted to install Sequoia prior to the 90 days expiring, they will need to remove that profile. Re: Any Way to Stop my Mac from Asking to Migrate to Sequoia?—SOLVED!
I ended up removing the profile. I'm just going to ignore the little red notification thing. I'm kinda paranoid there might be a Sonoma 14.7.1 or something that I'll miss. I don't remember... maybe this fix is smart enough to still show me an incremental Sonoma update?

Yep… you’ll still get maintenance updates for Sonoma (like 14.x)… but no *major* updates (i.e. numbers to the left of the decimal point).James Steele wrote:I ended up removing the profile.
