PCIe-424 and Windows 11

Post by RasT »

Is anybody successfully running a PCIe-424 card, perhaps with HD192 box or similar - on a Windows 11 platform?

I have an old PCI-424 working great on Windows 10, so I am assuming a PCIe-424 should work on Win 11, am I wrong?

Hi there

I have tried and been in successful with my pcie424 on windows 11 …. The PCIe card is recognised but my 2408mkii and hd196 are Sot seen by the on the interface…… maybe I must try new audio wire cables they are just FireWire cables right? Anyone else able to shed some light, the Motu tech support said it wouldn’t work. It is really frustrating because it leaves my entire studio without io after upgrading my pc

A common problem with using standard firewire cables is that the metal part that goes into the 424 card isn't long enough... it doesn't seat completely inside the socket. The fix often is to take an x-acto knife or other sharp tool and try to shave off some of the plastic moulding on the connector so that more of the metal part is exposed and it will go deeper into the socket on the 424 card.

Thank you, on the cable must I scrape the plastic away or on the hardware?

Also any luck with windows 11 to use it as just a simple io AdDa device

You scrape away the plastic. The problem with a normal firewire cable is on the side that plugs into your card, the metal shaft of the connector that goes into the card isn't long enough. If you scrape back some of the plastic to make more of the metal connector go into the socket, it may fix it.
