Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 updated from v. 7.3.3388 to 7.3.3440

Post by James Steele »

Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 updated from v. 7.3.3388 to 7.3.3440
Recent Changes:
Build (3440)
Fixed: Scanning compatibility for many VST/VST3 plugins
Fixed: Certain VST3 plugins were not responsive to the Bypass button
Fixed macOS: Seemingly random crashes while using VE Pro (API thread-related)
Added: Additional surround formats for AAX plugin
Interestingly enough, after udpating, PlugInfo shows version 7.2.3440 installed. I assume that's a Vienna mistake.

I suppose it could be useful to create a master spreadsheet that shows software titles, along with a few other useful bits of info. Sort of a one stop shop to see if your version is the latest version.

Developer
Name/Title
Type (reverb, VI, etc)
Formats
Current Version
Release Date (of plug)
Release Date (of most recent update)
Description
Notes

I'm sure the reasons this might not work are plentiful.

IMHO, that's a database job. I've done a few in the past. Powerful in the end, but heavy job. Creating a database is one thing, maintaining it is another big one.

I hate Google and avoid it at all costs, but IF there was to be such a crowd-sourced, crowd-edited spreadsheet (perhaps with invitations-to-edit only), it could be useful, but yea, a sprawling nightmare can of horrible worms.

Pitch 'n Time Pro and LE version 3.1 for Apple Silicon and Sonoma

Post by BobK »

Pleasant surprise: Pitch 'n Time Pro and LE have been updated to version 3.1 for Apple Silicon and Sonoma.

Serato hadn't made any statements about this, either on their website or when I emailed them in July. I was starting to think Pitch 'n Time was discontinued (I have LE).

Of course, Pitch 'n Time is only for Logic and ProTools, but I'm posting this for those of us who use those in addition to DP.

Just becoming aware of this plug-in from your post. Do you like it James? Thinking of trying the demo myself.

Here's how I've been doing it for years:

On one of my externals, I keep a folder called Installers. In it is every plug-in and VI. Each maker has a folder and the sub-folders have the version as part of the name that is compared to the web site when I go to update. If I need to install the installer files, those are stored inside along with license info etc. For those where I don't need to archive the installer file, there may be nothing inside.

I've been saving installers in a folder called installers for years, as well. But not in as deliberate and well-thought-out a way as you.

It's made a little complicated (or easier?) that many companies are including manager apps.

It's made a little more difficult because most developers don't have a clear policy to send email notifications of updates without sending a daily barrage of nags about the deal they emailed you about yesterday and the day before.

The app called Pluginfo is pretty good. It generates a list of all installed plugs & VI's, with their versions etc. I wonder if there could be a (perhaps crowd-sourced) kind of service where you could upload your pluginfo list, and it would watch for updates, or users could have some easy way of clicking that an update has dropped.
