How does one qualify for free upgrade DP8

Post by blazingrythm »

When I bought DP7 I was told I would qualify for a free upgrade to DP 8 but
under my account it says I must pay $200.00.
I know they promised back then that it would be out in the spring of 2012 but...
really?!!

Talk to tech support and submit your invoice if you bought it somewhere else other than the web store.

Yes; give them a call or email them.
Go Sox, I was from the North Shore near Boston, loved going to Fenway. I even used to climb the billboards across from the green wall so we could watch for free and party; climbing down after partying was something else.

I called Motu and they said their website isn't set up for the free upgrade.
I will get my DP 8 next week sometime.
Woohoo! Can't wait...

Correct. There is no automatic upgrade (I had the same conversation last week). You must call or email them to be put on the list.

There are many companies who do this nowadays. It saves them money, I know. It still rubs me the wrong way that I had to contact them to send what I was promised when I placed the order earlier this year.

If that doesn't work, and you live in Massachusetts, maybe you could wash & wax Magic Dave's car? That's what I'd do.

Can you imagine THAT being a DP feature? After listening to Logic users, Studio One users, Pro Tools users, and so on, as they read off all the features of their favorite DAWs, you deliver the zinger: "but do the developers of YOUR DAW wash your car?" Nobody could top that!

I think we ought to suggest to MOTU that this is a new feature! Their programmers don't have to lift a finger to add it.

I don't know Shooshie back here on the East Coast I think they very well might want to lift a particular finger at that suggestion. ;-)

That would be option 2. Served with lots of "please" on the side.
