Anybody using a Dangerous 2bus LT?
I've been reading about these things, the 2bus is a little out of my price range right now, but the LT could work. Do they make a big difference or not. I have a Rosetta A/D front end with MOTU 2408 MK3 plus Swiss Sonic 4 ch D/A, want to rid my board, and do hybrid ITB plus summing OTB. Comments?
iMac 27" Retna 4GHz, Apollo 8 w/Satellite, NI K-88 controller, plus a ton of VI's.

Do a site search on the Dangerous and OTB and you'll find a ton of pontification and bickering from both sides of the fence.
Re: Anybody using a Dangerous 2bus LT?
I've been interested in OTB lately. And specifically the 2-bus lt. But, before I commit, I need to be sure that what I want, they're not cheap. So.. I needed some new pres, and wanted to change out my mixer, so I got a Mackie Onyx. It sounds much better than what I had, an Alesis Studio 32. And wanted to try to sum OTB on a mixer. I have a 828MkII, which only has 8 outs.
I bussed the drums to 1-2, bass & Guitar with the FX to 3-4, BUs & fx to 5-6 and ld vox w/ FX to 7-8. I did a little tweaking, and sent it out the sub3/4 to an RNC, and then into the analog in 1-2 on the 828. I also did the same thing MINUS the RNC and out the Main XLR into the front XLRs of the 828, but I don't have that sample.
I figured if it did what I wanted, maybe the 2-bus would be for me. I realize I won't tweak anything, but since I was trying the Onyx, I might as well see what the fuss was about with the EQ. For the most part I like what it did to certain things. I still want to try a straight in/out without tweaks, maybe tonight.
Here are the samples of what I came up with. This was a tight rough mix. I didn't do the recordings, just a mix.

Re: Anybody using a Dangerous 2bus LT?
i just recently went thru the whole OTB research thing.
the dangerous stuff was definetly high up on my list but in the end i went with an API 8200A line mixer.
yes, it's a lot more money than the dangerous 2busLT but, if memory serves, the dangerous summing box (LT) does not have inserts.
for me that was a selling point.
not that you couldn't get by with a patchbay.
also, i like being able to actually turn a knob and pan my tracks instead of just summing them.
if you can wait, and are able to save the dough, i would suggest not buying something that just does summing, i dunno, i don't make any money with my studio so every dollar really counts and for me to buy "a one trick pony" just didn't make sense.
that was another reason i ended up buying a line mixer.
that said, as far as the API mixer goes, i could not be happier.
peace!

FM would love some fries with that.

Re: Anybody using a Dangerous 2bus LT?
Good topic! Check out the GearSlutz forums and do a search for OTB. There are some quality posts on the subject. I got this article (see below) from that forum. My personal experience regarding this subject is when I changed to the UAD-1 it really helped my sound out plenty. I use a similar system as you I believe. 2 Onyx 800's a Motu 2408MK3. Works wonderfully for me at the moment. But believe me I would love to have a pair of Apogee 16x AD/DA and a SPL Mix Dream and that Tascam CDR/DVDR burner but oh well.Originally posted by jimmy330:

Does the Onyx allow you to mix back through the mixer as the D to A?
