Euphonix MC Mix processor hog?

Post by Buckage »

Excuse me if this has been covered, I couldn't find any similar posts. I got a Euphonix MC Mix to do simple mixing with and was surprised after installing it that it took big bites out of the computer's processing. I have to keep the buffer settings low (128) so that my PC Kontakts and MIDI over lan don't have distracting latency.

When I plugged in the MC Mix the audio inputs really started sputtering and the processor meter was pegged. If I take it higher (512 and up) it starts behaving but I can't really work with that setting. Does anyone have some advice?

On a 8core running Sno Leo. DP 7.2 and downloaded the latest Mix installer.

Thanks

This has been covered and is a known bug. I finally took delivery of my MC rig but until I get my desk, I can't do any kind of testing.
Thank you,

Found some earlier posts. Thanks James!

Doesn't look too promising. I've emailed Euphonix tech if I learn anything new I'll post it.

I'm having the same problem trying to use Euphonix MC Control and Mix with DP. Love what the combination can do but it takes so much processing my DP Audio Performance meter is constantly jumping into the red and I have crashes every day.

I've looked through old posts on this but can't see any fixes. Someone said this is a 'known issue.' Does that mean it's unfixable?

I have not noticed any crashes but have learn't to live with the processor hit. In my experience having a fader to grab without having to think about it or use a mouse is WAY more important than having another plugin.

I set my work priority to "low" in "configure hardware driver". I could be wrong, but this seems to help with the jumpy cpu meter syndrome.

Hi All,

I was wondering if other DAWS are having the same issue and if most people feel that Euphonix (AVID) will keep working on this problem. I am happy with DP and do not wish to get involved with any others as my main DAW, but need to know if anyone thinks it's worth while hanging on to my MC Mix and MC Control or if I should sell them and and reinforce my system in other areas.

Just curious as to opinions.

Thanks

Also, how well do the DP control and other ipad/ipod apps work in comparison?

Thanks
