Hmmmm.
Ok. You obviously feel VERY strong about this point.
You certainly have much more experience than I do.
You wouldn't be telling me this if you were not convinced about it.
You whole heartedly think I'm going about this all wrong.
Maybe I've been going on about this all wrong, after all... (regarding the temp tracks constructed by me). You are DEFINITELY trying to tell me something here. Or pointing out something very important.
Ok. Point taken. I'll try your approach next time.
I'm always stubborn, but I recognize when someone tells me something I need/should revise.
It's nice that you took the time to make my hard and stubborn Mexican head notice this.

MIDI Life Crisis wrote:NO NO NO NO NO and NO! NEVER! Write something if you don't have something already done. Learn to write FAST! Anything else is certain death! Besides, you don't have to notate it, just sequence it. Again, 6 minutes of sequenced music shouldn't take too long for an audition piece. Certainly doable in less than a day for a quick sketch. Do a piano score if you must, but ALWAYS use your own music as a composer. Let someone else do a temp track; that is NOT what directors are looking for when you come to them, They are looking for a COMPOSER. No excuses; no rationale. NEVER MAKE A TEMP TRACK LIKE THAT AGAIN! EVER! Say it with me:
I WILL NEVER MAKE A TEMP TRACK LIKE THAT AGAIN! EVER!

Second, if you think it's tough being of Mexican decent, you have a clue as to what it's like being a Sicilian! OMG! Ask MY wife! She has been nominated for sainthood already!

Yes, I am serious. It is ALL about perception. You never want to be perceived as anything other than a competent composer.

Me accidentally deleting, now that...

I hope others start posting in this area more often. There is so much stuff we can all discuss here!

Haha... now you guys know what it's like. There have been times when I meant to reply to somebody and I started editing their post. All those extra buttons because of your moderator status. They can be tricky until you get used to them.

My 2 cents; for a number of reasons I think it is best to only use your own work if you are being hired to compose. If you are being hired for needle drop work that is another thing.
The hard part is not letting your self get mad when there is a misunderstanding.
For most of us the more we feel that we could some how be wrong, we are not understood or we feel embarrassed we tend to over react; it is a bitch being human.
Fm in your posts you come across as a nice person willing to be helpful to others so just use that part of you in business relations. I think the main reason a number of folks here have comments is they want you and the rest of us to be succeed, MLC is IMHO right on and is very helpful among others and I feel they actually care about the rest of us.
Yes some times I want to just tell some one what a dumb sh-t they are but I do my best not to, most of the time I do well. If the out come of this felt good than be it but if it did not that tells you some thing.
Now for a cliché: we are all human, even producers with perhaps the exception of Monkey Man.
