Hello Fellow Unicorns,
Has this happened to anyone else's 828 MkII? The sample rate erratically changes from 44.1kHz to 48kHz, and knocks out the audio signal. This happens while using DP5.12 or Logic 8. The strange thing is that it even changes sample rate if I am NOT using these DAWs.
When the computer is put to sleep, the 828 faithfully retains 44.1kHz all day or night. As soon as the computer has been awakened, it's anyone's call when the 828 will change sample rates without notice.
I have switched out Firewire cables, and have tried all Firewire ports on the 828 and MacPro ... to no avail.
I wonder if this might be an actual hardware problem with the 828? This is connected to a MacPro running OSX 4.10. I have downloaded the most recent drivers from MOTU ... also to no avail. (Incidentally, the problem also occurred running a 1Ghz G4 with OSX 10.2.8.)
Sometimes the sample rate display goes blank; other times the display goes extremely bright. Whenever the sample rate changes, I need to return to MIDI Audio Setup. Interestingly, the sample rate on Setup still states 44.1kHz; in order to return the unit to working order, I must either power down, or run the sample rate up to 48, then back to 44.1kHz. The unit's main fuse is intact; electrical power supply is conditioned.
Has this occurred to anyone else? The unit is about 4 years old, was bought new, and has been maintained in a home studio environment. It has never been dropped nor tampered with by inquisitive hands.
Any insights would be gladly welcomed. Many thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Joe <jcfeli>

Hi
Try first to reset your 828 to Factory Default Settings.
Here is some 828MkII reset info:

Don't put your computer in Sleep when you are working with 828 MkII. It can cause those dropouts.
If that doesn't work you might have to take it to a repair shop.

Resetting factory settings.
Thank you, Mr. Jarok, for your helpful suggestion regarding the MOTU internet link to reset the 828 mkII. Let's see if it works.
