MIDI Stuck Notes... Is this the solution?

Post by dougieb »

I had my MTP II plugged into a USB hub - actually my Apple monitor (30" of love ;-))

MOTU tech support suggested that I plug it direct to the tower - then I moved something else to the hub in the monitor.

So far... so good... I have to test more tonight, but does this solve anyone else's problems?

I'm curious: Are most of you who are having MIDI problems linked via USB? How many of you use Firewire for MIDI?

I found USB on Macs and PCs to be temperamental ports, especially when things like dongles are added to the equation.

I run my MIDI via firewire and it's rock-solid. Never a hiccup. Not saying that to be smug or anything -- just wonder if the USB variable has been considered.

my MTP USB has always been solid until moving to the OSX/DP4.5 combo... then all hell broke lose...

to get around the problem I have been using USB direct from my Yamah Motif and it has been rock solid... good thing is that my motif is the only module I still use externally...

moving MTP AV USB connection from HUB to tower improved things, but did not fix the problem...

I also tried moving my USB connection from the hub directly to my computer-no differecne for me.

BTW- It was a very surreal and frustrating experience to read the glowing review of DP4.5 in the latest Electronic Musician while all these problems are going on. Boy wouldn't it have been a kick in the pants if the reviewer has experienced all the stuck note issues and reported them in the magazine. Now THAT would have gotten the problem solved!
