I have recently bought a used MOTU 896(not HD) recording interface...and had intentions of running it with a PC desktop..while using digital performer..come to find out DP is only compatable with MAC OS...Are there any other other softwares out there that are compatable with the 896 that i can run on a PC desktop? or am I out of luck...plzz help!

Yes, as lmoe says, there's a bunch. Pretty much everything on the PC now supports ASIO devices (or can use the WDM drivers otherwise).
This "Reaper" thing has somehow managed to make a really big splash in a really short time:

Could be worth a look, as it's free to try, and only 40 bucks for a full non-commercial license (199 or something for commercial use). The developer's responsiveness is quite admirable from what I've seen as well, and it looks to be attracting many long term users of other better known DAWs. I hope it does well and stays cheap with good support. -and gets a better GUI <grin>
Sorry for the spam-like ranting. Ironically, I haven't even run it yet, and I'm actually a Berg man, since Nuendo 1.x

PS- Coincidentally planning to try it tonight on a P3 1100 running 98Lite. Reaper's requirements are exceptionally low (knock on wood).
