1248 Not Found (Ventura Mac Studio)Solved

Post by dhearn2@mchsi.com »

Bought a new M2 Mac Studio. Comes with Ventura 13.4.1. Downloaded proper drivers and installed them, but Discovery won't find my 2408 which is connected via Thunderbolt (TB2 - TB3 adapter is being used). I'm stumped..... Can anybody help me figure this out? TIA

Yikes! Are you using an actual Apple-branded TB3 to TB2 adapter? I think I’ve read only that Apple ones work reliably. I’m not on the M2 but M1 Max Mac Studio and I have no problems. I’m using this one:

Also I know with newer OS there’s some security hoops you have to jump through when the MOTU installer installs the drivers. Hopefully that all happened like it should?

MOTU has not posted a correct bulletin on enabling drivers in Ventura. Apple changed some of the names and locations making this one out of date.

This issue was solved by Matt in MOTU Tech Support by phone. It took us 50 minutes to get rid of all the prefs and associated system files, andI then had to reinstall the driver, but now the 1248 is on-line and working fine. Thanks to James Steele and Mike Halloran in particular for the responses! You are both appreciated.
