The 828es has two headphone outputs, and each volume knob is also clickable. Clicking shows you the trimming level of the output, but so does also moving the volume wheel slowly then when the headphone out is not already in focus.
So I thought a better use of the click action would be muting/unmuting the corresponding out. For instance, I have a little amateurish home studio and I record exactly where I track, so when tracking I need to mute any potential unwanted source, and this makes it easier.

I agree. I feel that the level view is a massive waste. Making the headphone volume knob push a mute button would be invaluable to me.

This is exactly what I was expecting when I got the interface: pushing the button would mute the source, since the mute button is only for the main outs. Unfortunately there seems to be no options in the menu or the browser-based control panel to select other actions. That's a real shame.

It might be possible that a firmware update could add this functionality. You should suggest this to MOTU.

You can create a scenario where you can mute the headphones in the Pro Control Mixer. As an example, just using the 'From Computer', assign the phones to Aux pairs in Routing, Phones 1 L/R to Aux 1-2. In the Aux Mixing bring up the level on Aux 1-2 From Computer 1-2. In the Mixing tab in Pro Control unmute From Computer and the signal will show up on the Aux - set level and mute from that aux channel.theMidiTamer wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 7:48 am Unfortunately there seems to be no options in the menu or the browser-based control panel to select other actions.
