Sidechain in DP 5.13?

Post by cbergm7210 »

Hi all. I posted this at the end of another thread, but it's more of a generic question, so...

DP 6 added a sidechain menu to tracks, is this correct?

So when a plugin says to "Choose the correct send in the sidechain menu" and someone (me) is working with 5.13 still, this means that this feature is unavailable in that plugin, correct?

I did confirm this with Scott Stillwell, who's Schope plugin utilizes this sidechain feature. Anyone running 5.13 can only use two of the four inputs on the plug, in other words.

My question is for the Waves Vocal Rider plugin, specifically, as the manual says the same thing, to choose from the sidechain menu in DP.

Anyone running 5.13 or earilier is out of luck with this, correct?

Thanks as usual, fellows.

Correct. DP5 and earlier do not support side-chaining in AU format. (They do in MAS)

Thanks, Kubi-wan-kanobe. :)

And...bummer...I thought the Waves Vocal Ride plug was interesting enough to look into.

Hey you should look into DP7 - since you're on Intel and all. I'm loving the experience. And Snow Leo, while you're at it. Seriously impoved the performance of my machine...

I know, you're right. But I'm letting my stomach settle and still getting out of my financial hole I got into from this:

Plus, I see threads about incompatible VI's and such every now and then that would cause me headaches. As my 5.13 is running great I think it is going to be a while before I move into the latest DP and SL. Let companies like NI and East West come out with official word that everything is 100% working awesome with SL.

I know I can make a bootable drive and try everything out. Maybe I'll get the energy to do that next year.

Totally dig.

Btw, NI stuff works great (I own Komplete) but EastWest Play is def still a bit iffy. It works but likes to crash about once or twice a session. Nothing that stops you in your racks, but enough to make you queasy.
