I have a question about funneling audio from other apps such as iTunes into DP.
I remember in OS 9 DP 3.xx we were able to select "Sound Manager Apps" as an input and then record the audio directly into DP.
How does one do this now with OS X DP 4.61 or is there not an elegant solution?
thanks,
Paul

Try soundflower (http://www.cycling74.com/products/soundflower) or Jack OSX (http://www.jackosx.com/). Both are audio drivers which allow you to route things around. If you set up soundflower as the output for any program, that program's output will go to anything set to use soundflower as input. There is a 2-channel version and a 16-channel version for more complex stuff. Jack is more powerful, giving you a graphical patchbay with which you can connect inputs and outputs of programs set to use jack as their audio driver, however this patchbay is a little tricky to use, and some programs such as itunes will only show up in it when they are actively sending audio (not when paused). Both take up a bit of cpu. I find myself using soundflower more because of its simplicity, but complex interapplication routing would probably work best with jack.

Bussing Audio
I'm really interested in these type of solutions since there's currently a 3 Gig/Application wired Ram limit in OSX. I'd like to be able to run other apps in another host on the same machine, or better yet on a different networked machine.
ie: run BFD drums in standalone mode, or AU plugs in a host like Rax and then bus it's output to DP.
When I've tried to use Jack as my audio drive for DP I get a strange tone that sounds a little a cross between a car horn, and digital feedback? Have you managed to get it to work?
Another interesting (but not free) audio bussing plug in is called WormHole2:

Someday, I hope that we either A) Have one machine fast enough to run everything or B) have a bullet proof networking solution that's just plug and play (along the idea of Muse's UniWire for the Receptor)
Thanks,
Vincent

Thanks I'll give it another shot. I would love to be able to make it work : )

Also make sure you are making connections right (click source, double click target, do the same thing to break connection).
