Hi all.
Quick question: I'm giving Time Machine a try after a decade. Just testing it with my internal HD really. I set it all up and started it, but I get the dreaded "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup...Two of the disks to back up have the same name. Rename one of the disks..." error.
Apparently, this isn't unheard of and there's plenty of advice (of differing quality) online about this. Most of them boil down to something like: "Go to disk utility, find the two volumes with the same name. Delete the empty one." That makes me a little queasy. Also, if I look in a finder window, there are indeed two disks with the same name, and they appear to be the same disk: Change the name on one, and the name changes on the other. But looking at "Get Info" there are very minor differences between the two disks (specifically, creation time and a tiny discrepancy in bytes used).
Here's a link to a picture of some of this info:

I'm completely confused. Can anyone point me to a trusted online resource that might help me sort this out?
Thanks in advance if anyone cares to comment. Cheers all.
George
