Someone care to explain Unisyn in laymens terms to me?

is it really just used to creat patch names? I've reading through the manual and I still don't have a grasp on what it's for.

Shooshie's review in this forum is a good place to start. What manual are you reading? If it is the DP manual, then I understand where you are coming from. The DP manual only covers the topic of Unisyn publishing patch names in DP.

In short, Unisyn is a "universal" synth editor/librarian powered by a relational database. It will only work if your synth is supported by the the included synth profiles. You can create, edit, name and search patches based on names, qualities, and keywords. These patches are then published in the DP patch list as described in the DP manual.

Unisyn is not an easy program to digest or use, but the more I have worked with it, the more I find it very useful.
