Help! How to transfer audio from hard disk recorder to 828.

Hello, I was wondering in some one can help me with file transfers. I have a friend who did some recording on a Alesis hard disk recorder, and we want to transfer the tracks to my computer based project studio. I run two 828 mkll, and i use SONAR. What do I do after all the cable connections are made? Do I hit play on one, and record on the other one? Please help some one. I have no idea how to do it.

Either you use a FirePort (firewire interface for the Alesis HD24) or you connect a lightpipe (ADAT) from the Alesis to you 828 and record the inputs in you favourite DAW app.

EDIT:
You hit play on the HD24 and record in Sonar...
