Hello all,

I have a "clicking" sound, almost every 16th, after loading MSi sounds. It's almost like there is a sound stroboscope. My system has all the requirements and + according to the manufacturer. I have tweaked the latency, buffer etc. Any idea how to remedy this anoying thing as it renders MSI useless to me.

Could you give more specific infos about your system? Platform, OS, Video Card, Audio Interface, Music Software, Other plugins, etc...

Windows XP Home edition SP2
Pentium 4 @ 1.6GHz
768 MB Ram @ 1.62GHz
Radeon 7000 with 128 MB ram
Ac 97 (might be the hick)

All other VSTi works properly (FM7, LM4 and 7, Oberheim, Fruityloop, Rebirth, etc...)

You're welcome.
I think you might be encoutering the problem of a faulty iLok driver. The first step would be to contact MOTU Tech Support as I believe they can provide you with a beta version of the iLok drivers that works much better on windows than the current official ones do. It may fix your problem. (or not).
Anyway, as you mention LM7 I believe you are using Cubase SX on your machine, right? What buffer sizes have you setup in the device configuration window of Cubase? I can see some reason why non power of two buffers could cause a small but continuous glitch in the audio out that would need investigation...

As you suggested I have contacted the Tech Support.

I had setup my buffer in multiples of 512 up to 3072 without any changes in the "sound stroboscope". The moment I load 1 instrument with MSi, the wonderful glitch is on. Ah well, the fun of a Version 1

since you are using ac97, in cubase go to multitrack in device setup and make sure you are using the full duplex driver and not the multimedia driver. however im sure that the combination of your soundcard and small amount of mem is the problem as i had the same. set your output buffer high and your input to 512 which is the lowest you can go with the ac97, that way your input latency will be about 20.something ms. after doing that when you select a pre. set your polyphony as lo as possible, only use one instance per track and freeze after recording one track. that will give you the best results untill you up your mem and card.

Thank you all. I have upgraded the sound card and setup the devices as you suggested. I now have MSI working. Now comes the challenge of learning to write for MSI, i.e.: writing a trumpet part and saying "mute" on the part will not make MSI automatically switch the sound
