macOS Sequoia and Finale v27
Hi folks........
I'm mulling upgrading my studio system to macOS 15. Given that Finale has been abandoned by MakeMusic, the general consensus has been to **not** upgrade beyond Sonoma, though I have heard from some folks that Finale 27 has been working in Sequoia.
Is anyone here running Finale 27 under Sequoia? How's it going?

On the support boards, you’ll find many posts from myself and others that it works fine. As to the next macOS, no one will know for a few months. The license servers will remain on “indefinitely”. MakeMusic is not dead but Finale will be.
Worst case, you’ll need to make an APFS Volume for Sonoma or Sequoia going forward.
The only way to get 27 is to take the cross-grade to Dorico. This includes a license for 27 and Support through August. Although Sequoia is unsupported, I won’t tell if you don’t.
I have built and successfully tested a remote drive that will boot and run Finale 27 on any Mac originally built 2012—2025 (MP 5.1 needs a metal compatible GPU). I’m waiting on a piece of hardware I need to test before I post a complete set of instructions — it’s not intuitive and not following my instructions will fail. I will also include info that people don’t understand about Finale’s license manager that I’m certain MM does not want to be generally known.. You can install Finale on as many computers as you want as long as you have Admin privileges.

That's what I was hoping to hear. Thanks for confirming!mikehalloran wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 10:38 am On the support boards, you’ll find many posts from myself and others that it works fine.
Yes, indeed… which is why I don't want to screw this up. I own Finale v27 and bought Dorico, but it may be a year before I have time to dive into learning a new notation program.mikehalloran wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 10:38 am As to the next macOS, no one will know for a few months. I'll be watching for this. Thanks, Mike!mikehalloran wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 10:38 am I have built and successfully tested a remote drive that will boot and run Finale 27 on any Mac originally built 2012—2025 (MP 5.1 needs a metal compatible GPU).
