Articulation Maps | Art Conductor best practices

Articulation maps are great, and Art Conductor (https://www.babylonwaves.com/) saves one the major headache of building your own from scratch.

The thing is, the Art Conductor articulation maps are massive. For any given instrument, I know I'll only use maybe a dozen of them — out of something like 70 or 80 listed. Wading through all the articulations I'll never use when I'm assigning articulations is annoying.

Anyone have a good workflow they've figured out? I've thought of deleting the ones I don't use — does that edit the original Art Conductor version, or is that saved separately in the project? (I'm only using global articulations — I haven't been able to make Project articulations work in any useful way.) Thoughts in general? (No use reinventing the wheel!)

Thanks!!

Personally what I did is put them in a folder called something simple like "Don't Own", this way if in fact at some point I pick up that library it's as simple as dragging it out of that folder. This means you see only the libraries you own plus a folder named Don't Own in the Articulation map chooser. Takes 5-10 minutes but saves time every time you need to apply a map.

Right clicking in the Articulation map pop up window and selecting Reveal in Finder (or something on that line) is how you quickly get to where the Art Conductor map folder is.

According to tech support, one can freely move these articulation files around using Finder, and DP will figure it out. That's a big help.

Good questions! It’s really hard to keep track of.

The other issue I have is that I’ve made adjustments to a lot of them by adding in delays to different articulations, which is a slow, boring process.. So when there’s a new update, I can’t just nuke the old versions. Haven’t figured out a simple workflow to deal with this yet but maybe by separating my libraries out it might clarify a little.

Yeah thats a bit of a PITA, but making a list of Art Conductor mods and getting the list to only show the libraries you own is probably your best bet, then you can check updates for changes to existing libraries and make that decision when it needs to be made.
