Audio Units v3 Support?
I've looked all over for any mention that DP supports the fairly new (bit over a year old) AUv3 format.
According to Apple, AUv2 is deprecated. There are instructions on the dev portal for supporting both AUv2 and v3 plugins in a single host. The big difference is AUv3's are application extensions which means they come packaged in an app and they run in a separate memory space which is a huge improvement for reliability as well as memory use analysis. It is still possible to load an AUv3 into the DAW process but it is not the default and you'd better have a really good reason for it.
It also means every AU will come with a demo app by default as Apple's AU scaffold provides all the basic code to make it "just work". Legacy v2 Au's can be quickly wrapped and recompiled.
But I have no idea if DP has done the support work to make it happen.
Anybody know?

Others may know better than I, but my hunch is DP doesn't support that yet. I imagine Logic does since AU is sort of "Invented Here" for Apple.
Oh... Apple and Dolby are busy shoving ATMOS down everyone's throats... but that's another discussion.

Re: Audio Units v3 Support?
AUv3 has been around forever. It started on iOS devices. There aren't that many DAWs that support it yet, Logic and Ableton Live only come to mind from what I know. One thing that holds it back is most developers that ported their AUv3 plugins to Mac OS DAWs like Logic etc. also wrapped their AUv3's in a VST3 wrapper. So pretty much every AUv3 plugin I have that works in Logic also works in DP11 as a VSt3. It's not as problematic of an upgrade as VST3 was, (took 15 years and VST2 still isn't dead completely), but it's taking some time to gain traction, since it's not the same plugin Implementation as AU2 etc.
Anyway my point is the trajectory is pretty straight here, MOTU added in VST3 at the appropriate time, when there were enough ports to make it worthwhile. They will do the same with AUv3 when it becomes the de facto format for AU in general.
Unfortunately for me, my hopes that DP eventually gets CLAP support is also probably reliant on a 70% or more penetration into the market with developers as well.

Just adding some recent feedback on a MOTU support ticket today - confirming DP does not currently support AUv3
(in my case I was running the Moog Model D Desktop App, and there is a separate AUv2 / VST3 wrapper I had to download via the app/Moog website)

So that's why it fails... Good to know — thanks!Pericynthion wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 3:40 pm Just adding some recent feedback on a MOTU support ticket today - confirming DP does not currently support AUv3

It's way down on my "things to look at eventually" list. That can take awhile for me. Last Sunday, I finally installed my Slate plug-ins as well as the SS Drums I have onto the Mac Studio that I've had since October — first I had to recall how to do both and then it happened. Wy wife being out of town for 12 days helped a lot but I pick her up tonight so the rest of that list might take awhile.

Yes… I got the same confirmation last year on a support ticket on the AU for Red Rock Sound Exciter. The VST3 works just fine, but MOTU confirmed they do not presently support AU3.Pericynthion wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 3:40 pm Just adding some recent feedback on a MOTU support ticket today - confirming DP does not currently support AUv3
