whether or not to upgrade DP to 11?

hello all!
I'm looking for your opinions - - given my hardware, would it be worth it for me to jump to DP 11? My hardware is a mid-2010 Mac Pro, 12 core with 64GB RAM running OS 10.13.6.

My setups are perhaps not quite as old as yours, but pretty close. I’d say DP 11 doesn’t run any better or worse than DP 9 or 10 did on any of my Macs, so the obvious thing to do is to look at the release notes for DP 10 and 11 and see if there are new or improved features that you think are worth the price.

I don’t remember exactly when it happened but I think there was a significant improvement in latency performance somewhere in there. Clips are another thing to look at although I don’t do much with them.

Of course, you can download the newest version of DP and try it free for 30 days in fully-functional demo mode before deciding whether to pay to keep it working.

hey guys, both excellent points!
I really appreciate it, I didn't know about the 30-day demo, I'll definitely give it a go

I know there are threads on this subject on this forum: But what preparations should Willie take before installing the latest version of DP 11 in order to prevent it from messing up his current DP 9.52 installation? Just re-name DP as "DP9.52" (or whatever name he wants) before installing DP 11? Backup his hard drive? I suppose worst case if DP 11 "messes up" DP 9.52, and Willie wants to go back to DP 9.52, he can do a fresh install of it, correct?

There’s not much you can do other than putting DP 11 on a separate volume or partition. There are support files that get written over, and a few things that don’t work properly on the older version after a newer version is installed. To fix the older version you have to reinstall it, and then the new version doesn’t work properly.

Exactly this:

you guys are great, replies much appreciated!
so herer's my deal; I've got two partitions on my system drive - - Partition "A" is Mac OS 10.12.6/DP 9.51 and Partition "B" is Mac OS 10.13.6/DP 9.52. I think DP 11 would have to go on "B" as DP 11 has a OS 10.13 minimum, doesn't it? So I suppose I could; (a.) rename the DP 9.52 install on "B", then download & install DP 11 indemo mode on that partition?
Actually, I''d prefer to wipe "A" and do a 10.13 install there and load DP 11 demo on there - leaving "B" untouched, but I cannot find a Mac OS 10.13 installer anywhere!

Need more information on your drives. Mechanical HDDs? SSDs? How many and how big?

Mike, big thanks, I'll compile that stuff quickly.

But in the meantime, despite their ssignificant efforts to obscure it, I *DID* find Apple's legacy software page(s) on their site and I'm downloadingt the 10.13 combo installer!
