Hey guys this post is about a discovery with a very old system I am running. It is here nor there anymore but I thought I would post anyways. I am running my 2009 MacPro flashed to 5.1 in my editing bay. A few years ago I upgraded it to Mojave 14.6 and got major distortion from the audio. When I went back to 14.3 the problem went away. I saw a post on Mac rumours about this configuration of the Dual Mac Pro I am using. It was a major problem and if you wanted to get rid of it you had to remove one of the processors . Apple had done something to 14.4 and up to screw things up with this machine. Any ways I stayed with Mojave 14.3. I bought a used MacPro 2012 for my main computer and then I could use DP 11 and the latest PT to use Melodyne ARA. Yesterday I was working on 2009 14.3 Mac in my editing bay and I have a HD with 14.6 on it and for fun I fired up DP 11 using digital built in out. Curious to see about the distortion again and it worked with no noise ! I then switched to Hybrid MKIII and no problems. I closed DP and tried Ivory stand alone and got the distortion . I then opened DP and opened Ivory in there and it worked fine ! I then closed DP and opened PT and opening after using DP the audio was fine. If I start PT before using DP the noise returns. What ever the MOTU team did allows me to run DP 11 and PT with no distortion. Anyways just thought to post and share this.

Interesting.

Mojave was MacOS Hell in so many ways beginning with the USB interface bug that didn’t affect MOTU but did affect nearly everyone else. 14.3 fixed that but introduced other problems and so on. I still have an external boot drive running 14.6 for one of my apps that hasn’t yet made it to 64 bit (developer has promised aaarrrrgh!!!!)..
