I just might be rambling on this
one, but here goes. There's this cool function that
allows you to "record hits" in the marker window,
which turns your MIDI controler into a marker placer
as the song is scrolling, by hitting any key. COOL!
So when I was done placing my markers, they weren't
snapped to my grid, just placed where I hit my
keyboard. No problem, but then I was like "Ok now I
want them aligned with my gird, so they are in time."
Well when I started moving them, they moved in even
increments of where ever they were created, not with
my grid though. So then I held down my apple button
to turn my grid off so I could slide them closer, but
to get them right on the money was a pain in the ass.
I figure their must be a way to snap your marker onto
your grid more easy than all this... is there? And
not having to open your marker window and manually
type in the measure number?? Thanks you so much

Basically, you're asking for the ability to quantize markers. I'm sad to say that I do not know of any way to do that, and it's something I've needed many times, just like you. The Record Hits command is still useful, as it gets you in the ballpark of where you want the marker, but to get it exact, you still have to tab through them and type the position. It's not that hard to do when the positions are always on 000. What I learned is to make my hits just a little bit late. Then I'm only typing zeros. If it's early, you have to type the next measure number. I'm assuming you're using barlines as your time measurement.
It would be nice if MOTU gave us the ability to quantize markers, or at least made them "snap" to the beat when desired. But not at the loss of current functionality. Sucks having to accommodate so many different ways of working, but that's what MOTU has always been good at--giving you options. Ask them. They might get around to it.
