Best way to change voices?

I'm doing a cartoon and need to make my voice sound like different voices.
I've been doing it in DP but sometimes it's good and sometimes, not so much.

What's the best tool for doing this? Does other software do it better? Or am I not using DP correctly?

Thanks.

As long as you are doing enough with your reading to change the sound, then doing things like pitch shifting and shifting formants will make things even more different.

You can do all of that in DP. I suppose some EQ might also help. If an heavily effected sound is needed, you could mess around with a Vocoder. (I think Melda's is pretty cheap. You can wait for it to go on sale--- which is pretty often).

Try the different algorithms DP offers... the newer ones are very clean for larger shifts and time compression/expansion. Note the ones that are best for monophonic material.

I'm using the pitch shift and formant tools in DP. But much of the time the sound gets garbled.

What algorithms are you referring to? I've got the latest DP. Is there something I missed?

I'll check out Melda, too.

Thanks.

Look at the pitch options in the Sequence Editor Window.

Aha! Thanks. I'll check them out. Never really been to that window.

Actually, I do use the Seq. editor all the time. I was confusing it with the waveform editor.

The only things I see in there are Pitch and Absolute and Relative.
I don't see anything about algorithms.

In DP 9.5 there's a whole new suite of ZTX algorithms that are quite good to my ears:

Thanks. I'll give it a shot.

This seems to work very well. What I was doing in the past was using Spectral Effects. That added a lot of garble.
This must be using different algorithms.

Yes!

See, when you try to change your voice, sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. It will seem very similar to your original voice. I think, you have to use software to change your voice to different voices. When using the software, it's hard to identify your original voice. I think, it will work well for you.

More for creatures and monsters, but Dehumanizer is a popular, if not expensive, tool for voice manipulation...I personally don't have any experience with it. https://www.krotosaudio.com/product-cat ... humaniser/

Thanks. I'm only needing human voices at this point. And it is an expensive tool.
