I lost mx4 with dp8 (in 64 bit)

any clue on how to get it back? I recall reading something about ethno and other plugins during install but there was no reference to mx4 and I can't seem to find the text again. It was about configuring MAS plugins to AU or vice-versa.

I have the latest version of mx4 and just installed dp8. Help!

just figured it out: mx4, even the latest version, is 32-bit. how disappointing, MOTU!

Updated. All good in 64 bit or bridged with Plogue Bidule.

Just installed DP8 and I found MX4 is unavailable in 64 bit mode. Conferred with Motu tech support and they stated they'll request their dev team to update MX4 to 64 bit.

I advised them to put a disclaimer on their DP8 webpage advising Motu purchasers that not ALL of their products support 64 bit.

If I had known this, I wouldn't be writing this post now.

What the heck? Motu!

Yours truly

MX4 was my go to Synth...

Still would be.... BUT IT CANT BE.

Sort it MOTU. I want 64 Bit compatibility on all Mac Hosts.

Its been too long....

Is that necessary?

I'm an optimist, so I'm assuming MOTU will update MX-4 at some point. I hope so anyway, I like that synth a lot.

If not, well, I got my money's worth, and I guess I could run in 32 bits when needed.

Anyone know if you can run both a 32 and 64 bit version simultaneously and sync them up w/ inter-application MIDI?

I might check that out myself now that I thought of that question!

I pretty sure you can but you'll have to copy the app to do it. It would be easier, IMO, to just run a bridge.

Topic header edited for accuracy. Makes it sound like MX4 won't work at all with DP8, which isn't quite right.

And frankly, it (MX4) isn't lost, just as NO 32 bit plugs were "lost," just not able to work in a 32 bit environment. That's not just true of MX4 or just MOTU VIs and plugs but ANY 32 bit plugs. And again, even at that, they're not lost at all as they can all be bridged with jbridge or Plogue Bidule.

True. I do understand the frustration some feel about having plug-ins updated to run in 64 bit mode, and imagine MOTU will get caught up. I haven't tried MX4 with J-Bridge yet. Heck... my older Mac Pro 1,1 really doesn't have all that much extra RAM so I'm not really bothering with 64-bit until I can upgrade my computer. Also, I'm not anxious in having my AlphaTrack become a paperweight. :(

Well you got me checking and indeed, MX4 is not showing up in my Plogue Bidule setup as available so maybe it's not bridgeable that way. Someone recently mention using IAC to bridge DP7 with DP8, which seems kind of awkward so it may be that to use MX4 as your go to VI you'll have to stay in DP7.

Maybe I can ask Matt at the Westlake event this week.

Hmmm... is there a VST version of MX4? Unless there is, J-Bridge isn't an option.
