After installing 4.6 - did you repair permissions?
Also - try installing 10.3.9 and then reinstalling DP 4.6.
DP 4.52/ DP 4.6/ OSX 10.3.9/ G5 Dual 2.0/ 1.5 GB RAM/ Reason 3.0/ VSTs (PSP, TC Native), MAS (DP Plugs), AU (PSP, Ohmboyz)/ UAD-1 (3.9)/ MOTU 828 (2)

well...upgraded OSX to 10.3.9, repaired permissions, reinstalled DP 4.6, repaired permissions again -

4.6 either:

crashes when trying to open any project

or fails to open file and shows error -39

Did you delete DP 4.5.2.?
The 4.6 upgrade won't do it for you.
It happened to me once but after delete the old one, no problem.

Error -39 is a file system error of some sort. There could be errors in the file tree of OSX. Do you have disk warrior? I would recommend it, boot off of its CD and have it fix the OSX file system and catalogue tree. Make sure all firewire devices are unplugged from the computer when you do this too. Make sure you have backups of audio and other important data before you do this.

That is my guess...but there is most likely some other underlying OSX issue that is causing this problem. DP4.6 should be fine on that system. I have it running on my dual 1.3GHz G4 under 10.3.9 just fine.

deleting 4.52 won't change the behavior of 4.6.

tested 4.6 on a client session today and switched back after 3 crashes. waiting on 4.61 at this point.

If memory serves, -39 means "unexpected end of file" which means the file you're trying to open is corrupt.
- Can you open it in an older version of DP 4?
- Do all your DP files produce the same error?!

I've gone back to 4.52 and it works fine

I tried opening a new file in 4.6 and then using the Load function
but that doesn't work either

I don't have Disk Warrior, but I do have TechTool and have run file tests and it shows no problem.

I doesn't matter what DP file I try to open with 4.6 - it won't open any of them.

Try saving a version in 4.52 and remove the plug-ins. See if that opens without any plug-ins. If it does then you have to put them back in one by one to see which plug is corrupted or incompatible.

Sometimes I've had a DP file get corrupted. The worst case was I had to open a new file and import the soundbites. But you can also load the board and TO too.
All the best,

Try this:
- First, backup your Audio Files folder.
- Then archive it (control-click it in the Finder, choose Create Archive).
- Drag your Audio Files folder to the Trash, and empty the Trash.

This is so that DP cannot find the audio files anywhere. Alternately, if you have a second drive avaialble (HFS+ formatted), you can simply copy your Audio Files folder to that drive instead of archiving.

Now open that DP project. It will (obviously) tell you it cannot find the audio files; just press OK. If the file opens OK, it looks like a corrupt sound file. Try adding the soundfiles back one at a time and see when the issue resurfaces.

I have tried ALL of the fixes listed in this form - including some which are not

1. trying to open from a different user
2. Deep cache clean (Tiger cache cleaner)
3. permissions and bindings rebuild (using TCC)
4. MIDI only (audio disabled)
5. Save a copy as...
6. All third party plugins removed
7 finally - a clean install of OSX 10.3.9, reinstall DP and try all of the above again

The problem persists
