SysEx dumps when updating Perf4.6 to DP5.1

Post by garrisan »

I am recovering from a lightning strike here. The old system was a mac classic II running Perf 4.6 using a MOTU MTP-II. I am trying to get up and running with an Intel Mac-MINI, DP5.1, and MTP-AV. I seem to be getting around ok, but have a problem. Maybe you can help.

The old data files were recovered by my local Apple dealer and when I run them, they look ok, but the MIDI SYSEX data for a Roland SC-55 will not as a general rule, play. I say this because I do have a single file that has nothing but a Sysex file for the SC-55 and it works.

I have also tried to record a Sysex file as dumped from the SC-55 and it won't seem to do that either.

I have my suspicions, but I'd love to hear yours. Thanks

Hi

I'm using SysEx Librarian for SysEx files.

Download it here:

http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

And there has been problems in DP with SysEx files. Read this:

http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... ex&start=0

Upgrade DP5.1 to version DP5.11 it should work better.

Jarok's entirely correct.

There were more than problems, though, with DP5.0, 5.01 and 5.1.
Sysex DIDN'T WORK AT ALL!
This was a major drama for many (including myself), but MOTU toiled away last year from August to November, quashing bugs (squashing?), the sysex-dump problem included.

Yes, 5.11 delivers, and then some.
Just D/L it; you'll be fine.

I've downloaded and installed the 5.11 update, and as advertised, the software passes previously recorded SysEx Dumps back to the SOund Canvas.

I do not seem to be able to record incoming Bulk Dump from the sound canvas. I can see the data in the MIDI Monitor, but see nothing after the track is recorded. What am I missing?

Do you have Sys Ex checked in the Input Filter?

You guys are a godsend. It's been so long since I've sequenced anything, that I've turned the filters backwards in my mind....... looking at them as 'what you filter out' rather than 'what you let in'.....
.............no wonder I can't record ... I've had it filtered out........... doah!
I't been too freakin' long.

I appreciate all your replies..... sometimes its the simple things.

Add in a software bug to confuse your troubleshooting skills, a little rust on my mental gear......... and all updated studio to play with, and then you've got lots of room to screw up as you explore. Thanks again to all

That's the way I first saw 'em.
Seemed the intuitive way to go.

If you think about it, it's because they can represent all MIDI data with the checkboxes, that they're able to do it this way.
If the boxes only covered some types of data, they'd have been programmed to filter-out when checked.
Or not.

Or the unintuitive things.

It's an "anti garrisan having fun" conspiracy.
It's all good, man.
