HELP!!!! Can DP5 open DP3.1 files?

Post by ddye »

Hi everyone,

I recently got back into the MOTU world, having upgraded from an ancient version of Performer I hadn't used since 1997.

I like DP5 OK so far (although the fact that they refuse to adapt to standard keyboard shortcuts drives me CRAZY!) but I feel like a total newbie after all these years.

A potentially dumb question: Our drummer sent me (OS9) DP3.1 files of our demo so I could overdub some parts. DP5 doesn't seem to recognize them, and I cannot open them. The DP3.1 folders include the following:

Analysis Files
Audio Files
An icon titled with the song name (will not open in DP5)
Resource.FRK
Undo

My DP5 cannot open anything in the folder, and I cannot find an Import option.

HELP!!!!

Thanks,

Doug Dye

That seems odd. Have you contacted MOTU Tech Support, or checked out their knowledge database online?

I haven't used DP5 yet but I know you can customize the keyboard shortcuts to be anything you want.

This sounds like a FORMAT problem.
(This can show up when moving from OS 9 to OSX).
The resource fork should not be visible in your folder.
Have him burn the disc again in a MAC only (HFS+) format.
This should embed the resource fork information in the DP 3.1 file.
It should then open up no problem.

Thanks,
