v5.11 keeps working perfectly with no issues. It's been three or four days since I moved to Leopard+5.11 and I have to say nothing seems to be out of place.

As I mentioned earlier..I actually like v5.11 more than v5.12 anyway. The hybrid Bitrate session capabilities were driving me way off (read: bouncesin 16bit instead of 24bit..erase bites..flush..repeat..*doh*) but that's just me, I know.

I have four keyboards and one JV-1080 connected to my PowerMac and I've had no problem whatsoever using MIDI with DP. No, I don't have a MOTU MIDI interface.

RIght you are! Audio/MIDI setup is not working properly for me either. Time to start another thread unless someone started one already...

Thanks. But recording MIDI does work, so I'm a bit miffed!

So, I thought that the newly released 10.5.1 update might help the problem... Unfortunately (for me) the issues have broadened. DP 5.1.2 crashes after seconds. Was working with the usual fade record problems with os10.5, but with 10.5.1 DP only lasts for 5min before crashing...

have not tested with ver 10.5.1

the waiting continues.

And MOTU says it's 10.5 compatible! I'm not working on anything right now! I'm willing and ready to install the update! here's hoping that all goes well.

FWIW

I'm using OSX 10.4.11 and tried DP 5.13 this morning and found it crashes on big sessions where it does not on 5.12

Hmm. Not happy news. What does your crash log say?

I didn't bother to look. Just went back and stayed there. Will check again later tonight.

Cheers,

4-hours mixing session, yesterday, with no problems at all. Everything went smooth from "Open Recent" to "Quit", on the following system:

Mac OSX 10.5.1 + all the other updates
MOTU Audio Driver latest version
Digital Performer 5.13

828MkII, PowerMac Dual Core 2Ghz, 3Gb RAM

Lots of audio tracks, MIDI tracks going to real hardware devices, 1 virtual instrument for drums. UAD plugins exclusively. Lots of fades, NY compression busses, group submixes, etc. etc.

I guess that merits another go at it. Maybe I'll go buy leopard.

I'll chime in; for me the random volume surges have not shown up over the past few days in 5.13. I've using the same large orchestral/VI project that had the volume surges in 5.12. I almost didn't want to acknowledge in fear of the jinx.... I also did the PCI and MIDI driver updates at the same time as 5.13

That was a common scenario for me under Tiger and Panther. DP would crash within a few minutes of opening a new file if I hadn't used it in a while. Then stable for weeks on end.

I managed to crash it today by moving a file to the trash in error. But I saw that coming and once I returned the file back to where it belonged, DP ran just fine.
