Hooray, I just unloaded my JCM2000 head and have that monkey off my back. I was asking $600. The guy who bought it drove an hour and half from up near Riverside to look at it. I Then asked me if I'd take $40 off for his gas money. Okay... I'm no negotiating genius, but you tell me what are the odds that if I said "Sorry, I'm firm on my price," the guy was gonna get back in his car and drive an hour and a half back the other way and go home empy handed over forty dollars? That's right... slim to none. I'm leaving now to go desposit my $600.

Geez... there may be hope for me and I may yet manage to do a gig where I don't get screwed by a club owner. I can hope, right? :D

He played with John McLaughlin in the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

I know who Jan Hammer is. He played with a lot of great guitarists (McLaughlin, DiMeola, Beck notably). But, to my memory, he didn't really go all "key-tar" crazy until the early 80s when he did those duo albums with Neil Schon. I even remember an MTV video for one. And that, I think, is what James was referring to when he mentioned Hammer playing guitar-like licks and riffs

Ahhh yes... thank you that's where I saw it! I shudder a little recalling that video... I vaguely remember a balding Jan Hammer wearing eye liner with a poofy white shirt and what might have been leather pants playing one of those Roland AX-whatever-the-model-was thingies.

Ahh the 80s. I have hidden away my hair band pictures, yet sadly I can't bring myself to destroy the evidence! :-)

No string will hold them back.

Man, that's funny lighting.

Cheese aside, Neil's still one of my favorite players.

Ahhhh, those classic 80s power chord progressions......I think maybe Neil originally wrote this song for Rick Springfield or vice-versa. They sound remarkably similar

Gotta love the painted-on acid-washed jeans with the tucked-in wife beater......classic.

Side B got pretty frantic with the trombone, big toms, china cymbal and John Abercrombie, if I remember correctly.
I haven't heard this album in 15 years, as I've only got it on vinyl.

Tommy Bolin always put a smile on my face in this ablum though; he was over the top and sooo psychedelic!
His 4's with Jan Hammer were the bomb, too. :D

Ahhh... yes there it is! AAAAAGGGHHHHHH... I lived through that. When the girls did their hair like that. I gotta say the coolest thing about it is Neil's got a whammy on his Les Paul. Given the typical hight of the Les Paul bridge, I don't know how you do something like that, but it's giving me ideas to butcher mine.

Yeah... the 80s... can't you just hear Cobain coming? A kid from Seattle to put a stop to this. I used to resent Nirvana at the time... in hindsight I'm glad they came along.

That'd be side B of the cassette I had Spectrum and Crosswinds on.

I remembered after I logged off, KOL, that for years I listened to all my fusion albums as one-a-side on cassette.
Crosswinds was littered with atmospheric drum thunderings, freaky psychedelic/afro-style trombone and... John Abercrombie.
This album took a little getting used to, whereas Spectrum, by comparison, sounded almost mainstream. :D

Just thought I'd correct my bungling fumble. :D

Kind Of Loud wrote:rcannop....If you decide to go with a Pod, Line6 has some new products, that will be available, this coming September. The new PodX3, and PodX3 Live, can run two amps, and effects chains. Don't have all the specs just yet, but that's one feature.
They also have some amps, that have been designed in conjunction with Bogner. From what I've gathered, it's Line6 modelling, with a tube power amp, designed by Bogner.
Line6 hasn't officially released any info yet on these products, but they are on the way.
Here's some pictures, of what's coming.....

As for the Bogner/Line 6 amp, from what I read there's a tube pre-amp stage in there too, not just a tube power amp. In other words, the best way to emulate a tube amp is with a tube amp. :D
