Dollars to donuts it's one or more of your plugins or VST's.
I've had similar issues w certain Waves plugs, Sonarworks occasionly etc. As soon as they are disabled everything's fine. PITA to find the culprits but that's the solution.

I should have followed up on this. I got this advice from Matt at MOTU Support:
"
1. Quit DP
2. Open a Finder window and click on the 'Go' menu at the very top of your menu bar
3. Hold down the Option key on your keyboard. Library will reveal itself. Click 'Library'
4. Go to the Preferences folder
5.
Move the "com.motu.DigitalPerformer" "com.motu.DigitalPerformer.plist" and "com.motu.MotuAudioSystem" items to the Desktop (not the Trash)
6. Open DP and see if you're able to get in and test the bounce behavior.
"
This stopped the crash on Bounce for me - FOR A WHILE. Once I got that relief, I had to rebuild all my preferences, Workspaces, etc., and trashed the items I'd removed.
…
Some of us have been advocating trashing
"com.motu.MotuAudioSystem" for a couple years now. First time I did it, there were AudioDesk 1 and 2 preferences in there dating to 1999 — yikes! Yeah, all of your plugs need to be re-verified after that but it solved a whole laundry-list of problems for me. I now do this annually.
I would do that first before trashing the other preferences since rebuilding them can be a pain.
As for MOTU MW Plug-ins, I had to stop using them, too. In January 2023, I had a screen sharing session with MOTU Support where I demonstrated audible distortion and artifacts in a few. The worst offender was MW Limiter—removing it from my workflow saved time and solved a lot of issues.
