A few PB tips:

1. Use Diskwarrior to rebuild your directories and defrag once a month if you use your PB often. I use my 17" 1.5GHz 2G RAM with 7200RPM drive 5 times a week...running Finalscratch ( www.finalscratch.com ) for djing and post-production, Live 4.x, Logic 7, etc.. and DP4.52/M-Audio 410.. 5 times a week! Very intense..but satisfied with the performance. Of course..follow the tweaks that we have been posting over the years...including the posts at http://www.osxaudio.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=23 ;-)

2. As Meltdown noted...turn off network items, cron scripts,..and boot disk must have lots of space...at least 2 times the size of RAM. Turn off Airport use during recording!

3. If using an external drive, avoid cheap stuff..including cables and drives.

4. Use Apple certified memory or something equivalent.

There are many more.....not an exact science...but we may get there one day.

BTW: I saw the Crash-On-Quit with Logic 7 too..so not just a DP4.X problem....

I had to vent a bit...;-)

Kris..
