Hey all... let's please confine the discussion regarding avatars, etc. to the OT forum. We have to remember that some members here subscribe to topics to be alerted when some new "relevant" post appears and they don't want to be e-mailed for each back in forth in a light discussion about avatars, etc. that has nothing to do with the topic. Thanks so much! :D

Yikes! Sorry Jimbo. I'll take the blame.

I always glance up at the thread title before going AWOL or OT, but 4 'Cornies fed me at once and I felt compelled to respond. My weakness, my bad judgement, and my fault.

Sorry again man. Maxpatch and all other thread-subscribed MOTUHeads, I'm sorry; I'll try harder to resist the urge no matter the pull in future.

PS: I admire your tactful approach in this instance James; hopefully my prompt and heartfelt response justifies your faith in us. Go you good thing man!

Don't believe all you read. While it's true that people are having trouble, those same troubles are not always universal. In fact, most of them are pretty sparsely distributed. They're real enough for those who have them, but they're not for everyone. This is proving to be normal for a big number upgrade. MOTU used to beta test their stuff pretty well back in the OS9 days, but it's a different playing field now. I just don't know how many beta testers (translate: free copies of DP) they'd have deploy in order to get the same level of results, but I suspect it's virtually impossible now, what with so many 3rd party VIs and plugins involved. This is simply a matter of teamwork that takes months to work out, and we've been waiting years on some things.

Version 6.01 went a long way toward fixing a lot of the problems, so things are a LOT better than in 6.0, but I'm sure you're finding that already.

I agree with pcm's comments.
Not an upgrade to me.
And why on Earth does the mini menu have to be on the opposite side of the window?
I am on three monitors, and the mini menu is waaaay over there>>>>
It would be nice if there was a key command for "open mini menu" for the last touched window.
Dan
That's a very good point, and I had not thought of that -- re: 3 monitors and having to reach for the mini-menu. That's one for MOTU. Then they'll change it and someone will probably be upset that their QuicKeys routines have to be rewritten yet again! :D

My guess about ProVerb is that if we could find really good IR's for it, it would sound much more professional. I don't know where to find those, but I use Altiverb, too, so I'm not worrying much about it. Still, I'm curious about ProVerb. Anything with such a biblical name ought to perform almost magically!

I'm on the fence about the upgrade, but I think each day finds me leaning more and more to DP 6.01 and satisfaction. I've been through all the GUI changes in Performer/Digital Performer, and each has at first seemed strange territory, but quickly become my favorite. Already I can't go back to DP 5.13, for I've grown accustomed to her face. Er... DP 6.01. I think you will too, in time.

If they would bother to work out the problems with Spaces, I'd be much happier. DP 6 is NOT Spaces aware, and does a very poor job of remembering if you decide to move a window to another Space. Every time you change something in a window, it seems that all the windows fly to the wrong place now. I may just go back to not using Spaces at all, but it's just so tempting and so handy! Too bad they messed it up even worse than it was before.

In spite of all that, I'm pretty happy with it now. I reserve the right to change that opinion if I run into trouble! :?
