I wonder how many film and TV trailers we're going to hear using this in 2019? I'm torn between "Way cool" and "Everyone's going to use it".Rick Cornish wrote:This is a new version. Seems like a pretty good deal ($18...regularly $138).

Bought it. All I have to do is play one guitar over this and have no fear of sounding like anyone else..mikehalloran wrote:I wonder how many film and TV trailers we're going to hear using this in 2019? 8dio makes some cool stuff. I don’t have use for much of the heavy trailer/dark film score material they seem to specialize in, but I have found half a dozen instruments from them that add nice and unique sounds to my tracks. They’re running sales through the holidays.

Re: Plug-in Sales and Special Deals Sticky Topic
Just got an email from DontCrack, and they are having a pretty significant sale on plugins.

The one that stuck out for me is IRCAM's TS (Time Stretch) for $49. That's a great price for this stand-alone pitch & time app. It does a very impressive job with full mixes. I use it all the time to transpose and tune finished mixes for work with students.
There are quite a few other bargains in that list.

It’s a lot easier to use than the IRCAM stuff in MachFive. Great results every time.

How does IRCAM TS compare to what you can do in DP9 with ZTX Pro?

Re: Plug-in Sales and Special Deals Sticky Topic
First, it's really good with full mixes. Second, it gives you more detailed parameter control over the settings so you can really fine tune the way it pitch shifts and or stretches.
I don't think it has an "automation curve" (or at least not that I'm aware of), so it's more for doing a fixed change to the key and/or tempo of a mix. I'm sure it would do an even better job on individual tracks, but without automation, it's usefulness would be pretty limited.

Re: IrcamLABS TS & Snail from DontCrack
I bought IrcamLABS The Snail for $29 off that offer. Not quite sure what/how I'll use it but if I do, I'll be glad not to pay $99 later.stubbsonic wrote:Just got an email from DontCrack, and they are having a pretty significant sale on plugins.

I've had TS for quite some time. I don't use it often but it's a time saver compared to other methods. It's my go-to for making 86 minutes fit onto an 80 minute CD, for example, or making all Live tracks tune to A=440 when assembling a retrospective. Don't recall what I paid or when except that list was $199 at the time.
I've never tried ZTX Pro in DP—haven't needed it yet—but I wasn't as impressed with ZTX in other plugs ( PSP etc.). I know that DP implements it differently so, when I need it, I'll give it a try.
The time stretch capabilities in Melodyne Studio 4 are impressive but again, the ability to just drag/drop/fix in TS saves time.
It does have Tape Mode: Just like an analogue tape deck (that I've never used).I don't think it has an "automation curve" (or at least not that I'm aware of), so it's more for doing a fixed change to the key and/or tempo of a mix.
Here are the manuals
http://download.plugivery.com/pvdl/?do= ... ls&bid=102
There's also a 15 day eval but I don't know how much longer the sale lasts.

Re: Plug-in Sales and Special Deals Sticky Topic
Just got this one.... a number of offers here, but the one that sticks out to me is Stutter Edit and BreakTweaker Expanded—normally $448, on sale for $49.
I don’t have much use for Stutter Edit, but $49 for BreakTweaker+ seems like a really good deal.

Be sure to grab John "Skippy" Lehmkuhl's libraries for it over at PluginGuru, Rick.
The factory libraries' key triggering for patterns is all-over-the-shop, whereas Skippy settled on a "system" and stuck with it, meaning that you know what you're gonna get when you trigger a different pattern - no kick, no snare, fill, busier, sparser etc.

Re: Plug-in Sales and Special Deals Sticky Topic
Indeed, Rick!
I've got all of his Omnisphere and BreakTweaker libraries. A bit pricey, and all of them can be had for free if you're an unscrupulous individual, but thanks to my determination to support fellow artists I made the decision back in the noughties to only use paid-for software no matter what it cost me in terms of years (meagre budget)... and it's literally cost me years.
I say this 'cause even with Skippy's pricing, his libraries are worth it. Says the guy who hasn't even loaded a single one yet as I've not had audio software up-and-running for 2 years whilst I build the plugin-collection thing and try to sort out my transition from PCI to AVB. I've watched all his videos 'though up until the last half dozen (gotta catch up!). Played them all on the telly at night 'cause free-to-air absolutely sux in my neck of the woods.
