828mkII as a crossover

Post by ochlo »

Hi. I want to ditch my analog xover and run one on my PC. Needs to be pretty advanced - most important would be a stereo>mono sum. You can do this sort of thing in DAW's, but as far as doing this with windows audio, I haven't been able to find anything. I guess it would have to be integrated with the cumix console or drivers? Maybe an alternative to the Microsoft Sound Mapper?
I have searched quite a bit with no luck at finding anything even close to this. Why hasn't someone thought of this yet, and if so, what is it called? Another idea is to allow vst or directx plugins to be inserted on the cumix console, and set it up yourself. Why isn't there a way to do this yet? I'm sure it would put a little more strain on your CPU, but the benefits of plugging straight into the amp instead of going through a bunch of cheap circuits are enormous!
If anyone knows anything similar to what I am talking about please tell us!
