DP8 Sound better?
Just received my copy of DP8 today and I installed it alongside DP7.24.
Installation was smooth and I also purchased the JBridge to use some 32-bit plugins.
I tested it with a small project I was working on with only a few VIs, namely Omnisphere, Kontakt 5 and Geist. Is it only me? Or my illusion? I found it to sound better. More open in the top end.
I also opened DP7.24 at the same time and switched back and forth between the 2 versions. I still think the new version sounded different. I would like to say it sounds better but maybe that's only a subjective matter.
Any other one find the same?

Re: DP8 Sound better?
As a second thought: would it be some of the 64-bit plugins that sound different?

Re: DP8 Sound better?
64-bit plugs don't sound better. There is no such thing as 64-bit audio.
On my systems, DP8 sounds exactly the same as 7.24.

Re: DP8 Sound better?
I installed DP and opened the last recording I worked on in DP7.24. I thought there was a more open, clear and detailed sound to it all of a sudden. Could just be my imagination. Or not.
Let's hope it's improved. I like improvements! Imagination is also good. I like imaginations!

When I eat at the computer, I've noticed my food tasting better when DP8's running.

Re: DP8 Sound better?
When I have a glass of water in the studio and launch DP8, it turns into wine; smokey air freshens; ugly children become beautiful; and I get 3-4 inches taller. My music, however, sounds the same in all versions of DP - except DP6, where it doesn't sound at all. The other aspects of DP magic still apply except the air. Fresh air becomes very, VERY smokey and sweet smelling. It's a very magical experience nonetheless.

Re: DP8 Sound better?
Yes, I still hear the sound of "snap! Snap!" When the processor spikes hit using VIs
But is it really inconceivable that it sounds better or at least different? DP8 is a rewrite in many parts of the application. MOTU has probably updated the code for several plug-ins and maybe even the audio engine. I would be really disappointed if there was NO difference in the audio what so ever, at least when using plug-ins. Whether this change is easily perceivable or not is a different thing.

So future legends, you're saying it's twice as snappy? It's like two, two, two DAWs in one! Double your pleasure. Double your fun.
