Tascam DM24 and DP...anyone using transport and counter?

Post by wonder »

hey guys,
for the life of me, i cant figure this out.

is anyone using the DM24's transport controls to control DP.

and is anyone using the DM24s meter bridge counter to react properly with DP's counter?

if so, how'd you go about setting this up?

thanks

Wonder,

On the DM, go to the MIDI/MC screen.
Check Ctrl Change[EXT. CTRL} IN & OUT
Check Ctrl Change {Mix Parm} OUT
SYS Ex IN
MIDI Time Code IN

In Audio MIDI Setup make sure that you create a DM-24 device.
I have mine set to Transmit on channel 1 / sending and recieving MIDI time code.
In DP go to the setup menu and select Control Surface. Check Listen to control surfaces in background.
Driver: HUI
MIDI: DM-24-1

Also in the Setup Menu go to Transmit sync and Choose DM-24 in the Transmit MTC to menu.

You should be cool from there.
You can use the DM-24 faders/pan knobs to mix in DP by going to the EXT. CTRL window on the DM-24. Select the EXT.CTRL tab and you'll see banks of 8 channels of your DP project with the track names listed.
This beats mouse mixing any day.

Hope this helps.

GREAT!

But heres thehangup...
I went to MIDI/MC > CTRL.CHANGE
the only thing i see on the right side of the screen is..

SELECT
Mix Parm
Ch Fader
Ch Pan
Ch Mute
Master

EXT. CTRL
[MIDI MIXER]
Fader/Pad
Mute

I didnt mess with anything here but i did tell DP to transmit MIDI clock and now he Meter bridge follows in minutes and seconds from DP. Can i get it to follow Measures and Beats?

I have a follow-up question, if you guys don't mind. . .

I've been able to use the DM-24 as a transport controller with no problems. .

BUT. . .i've never been able to use it to set and use LOCATE points. .

any clues?

do i have to also connect it with one of those Alesis 9-pin plugs, or is this something it won't do?

Yeah that would be cool but I haven't figured that one out either.

Wonder,

Hold down play and hit record to punch in and out.
